The Top 3 Things to Look for When Hiring a Wedding DJ

Getting everything arranged for a wedding is a daunting task on most couples. Hiring a Wedding DJ should be the least amount of worries. So many couples hire a Wedding DJ that is a family member, friend, or a friend of a friend. This is not a good decision most of the time. These types of DJ’s are going to want to DJ and also try to enjoy the festivities of your special wedding day. This is when a lot of things can go wrong! Many couples also try to hire an amateur Wedding DJ because his or her prices are so low. Remember, you get what you pay for. Do you really want to put your special wedding day in the hands of an amateur?

Rule Number One (1.)

Always hire a Professional Wedding DJ that has experience and has no ties to the families.

• This will insure your Wedding DJ ONLY focuses on the music and the hosting of your special wedding day
• This will insure that your Wedding DJ will know what to do, when to do it, and how to do it because he or she has EXPERIENCE in working with weddings
• This will insure your Wedding DJ has tons of music, dresses professionally, and knows how to communicate with your friends and family members in a friendly and professional manner.

“I’m so glad we hired WGW Media for our wedding. They were professional, had all the music we wanted played, and gave us ideas for our wedding that we would have never thought of, like the $1 dance for brides and grooms.” Quote Bailee and Brian Berard: Wedding October 13th, 2012

Many couples hire a Wedding DJ just thinking that he or she will have and play the music they want to hear. I have heard many people say to me: “The DJ at our wedding didn’t play any music we wanted and he didn’t have any music we requested.” “We just thought that since he was a professional DJ he had the music we wanted to play during our wedding”. This situation can make your guests leave early. The Wedding DJ is supposed to get the dance floor rocking with the music YOU like, make sure your guest have a good time, and most importantly keep your guest there till the end.

Rule Number Two (2.)

Always ask a Wedding DJ if he has the genre of music you like, ask to see their music library, and on hire do a wedding dj checklist.

• This will insure you get to hear the music YOU like and want played at your wedding day.
• This will insure your dance floor is packed during the peak dance times of your wedding.
• This will also insure your guests don’t leave early and stay the till the end of your special wedding day.

A Wedding DJ is only as good as their equipment. Many couples hire a Wedding DJ without even asking what type of equipment they have. Many times they don’t even ask to see what the equipment looks like. They hire a Wedding DJ because of their presentation when they meet them and have no idea that their DJ equipment is old and out dated. People forget to ask if the Wedding DJ has insurance. This can prevent you from having to pay out of pocket if the Wedding DJ burns down the venue or a guest trips falls over DJ stand and breaks a leg.

Rule Number Three (3.)

Always make sure to hire a Wedding DJ with equipment that is up to date and has insurance.

• This will insure that the Wedding DJ’s equipment doesn’t short out or break down and they can’t play anymore music for the rest of your wedding.
• This will insure that your Wedding DJ can play your iPod, iPhone, or any other up to date mobile device you or your guest have for that one SPECIAL song you want played.
• This will insure that YOU are liable for any situation that occurs at your wedding venue that is at fault of your Wedding DJ.
