Bar Mitzvah: 3 Things Your DJ Must Have

A Bar Mitzvah is Jewish Coming of Age Ritual, occurring on the 13th birthday of a Jewish boy.  Bar Mitzvah’s rabbinical phrase translates to “an [agent] who is subject to the law”.  This is where a Jewish Boy becomes accountable for their actions and become a Bar Mitzvah (plural: B’nai Mitzvah).   This is a joyous, exciting, and memorable day for a 13 year old Jewish Boy and his family, so the Dallas DJ you hire must be prepared with these 3 things for your son’s Bar Mitzvah to be a successful one.

1.  Hava Nagila Song

Hava Nagila (literally “Let us rejoice”) is a Jewish traditional folk song in Hebrew.  During the  beginning of the Bar Mitzvah, the DJ usually starts off with this song.  The family and friends all get on the dance floor and beginning the traditional Hava Nagila dance.  The birthday boy is sometimes hoisted up the air on a chair and danced around in a circle, while everyone is clapping, dancing, and having a good time around  him.  The DJ can also provide different Hava Nagila Remix Songs to mix in later during the Bar Mitzvah celebration.

  3. Hava Nagila Dance Remix
  4. Hava Nagila Techno Remix

2.  Variety of Music for ALL ages

Your son’s Bar Mitzvah will most likely have an even mix of children and adults.  As you know, children and adults do not have the same taste in music.  Most Dallas DJs play at wedding receptions, corporate events, and/or parties.  These events are usually predominately filled with adults and the music is geared towards them, but at a Bar Mitzvah the event DJ must be able to play new music the children will recognize.  The kids don’t want to hear Michael Jackson all night, they want Top 40, Dub-step, New Mash-Ups, Trap Music, and You Tube viral funny music video parodies.  The adults don’t want to hear Justin Beiber all night either, so your event DJ MUST have a variety of all music from all genres for all ages.

3.  Wireless Microphone

Any local DJ Service you hire for you son’s Bar Mitzvah should come with a wireless microphone.  During a Bar Mitzvah many things are going on and an event DJ should be able to play music and be a host at the same time.  But many times during the celebration the birthday boy, friends, family members, and/or parents would like to speak to the audience.  By your event DJ having a wireless microphone people can speak in front of the whole audience and don’t have to be behind the DJ Booth to give a toast or a speech.  This comes in very handy, especially during more traditional Bar Mitzvah where there is a lot of readings, speeches, and announcements by the birthday boy.

Your son’s Bar Mitzvah will be one of the most important days in his life.  You want to make sure the dallas DJ you hire has all 3 of these important things (Hava Nagila Music, Variety of Music for All Ages, and a Wireless Microphone) for your son’s Bar Mitzvah to be a memorable one.  Remember your son will have only one Bar Mitzvah, so don’t be afraid to ask the event DJ if he has all 3 of these things before you hire his services.
